How We Catch Sea Ducks

To understand sea duck ecology, such as their distribution, habitat use, and potential impacts of human activity, we often need to capture sea ducks to take measurements and tissue samples and attach radio or satellite transmitters. Traditional waterfowl capture methods have been modified and refined by sea duck biologists to be effective in the challenging marine, boreal forest, and tundra environments that sea ducks inhabit.
